Article submission channels for mainstream self-media/personal blogs in 2026

I've been busy upgrading my blog lately, and while I was at it, I compiled a list of platforms where I can submit articles. In this fast-paced era of short videos, fewer and fewer people are willing to write seriously. This list basically covers independent blogs and self-media platforms where you can publish, distribute, or submit your work. I use many of these platforms myself, and I'll update this list as soon as there are any new developments. I hope it's helpful to everyone.

Zhihu Column

The reason I put Zhihu first is because, in my long-term experience using various platforms, Zhihu offers the smoothest overall experience. Whether publishing articles or writing comments, the process is relatively simple with almost no extra obstacles, and the content review is also more lenient (other platforms often inexplicably delete articles without explanation). In contrast, other platforms have more restrictions on content formats such as links and images, and their rules are cumbersome, inevitably making them less user-friendly. If I could only choose one platform for submissions or simultaneous updates, I would prioritize Zhihu.

Toutiao account

Toutiao in 2026 is not the same as it was ten years ago. Like Douyin, it has reached the top of the pyramid and is facing the same problem: severe user penetration into lower-tier markets. It's difficult to find common ground with its users, user comments are often one-sided, and sometimes even involve inexplicable attacks. Users might as well ignore the content you painstakingly write, but it's unacceptable that they not only don't read it but also misinterpret its meaning with incorrect understanding.

Although Toutiao has many problems, it is still a leading news platform, and if you need to share content, you can't avoid it. I recommend using multiple layers of armor when posting.

WeChat Official Account

It's still an old platform, over a decade old, but WeChat's sheer size makes it unfortunate. There are numerous restrictions on official accounts. Although the application process has become much easier, content is frequently deleted. Furthermore, the restrictions on external links and external indexing severely limit dissemination. I have my own user subscription platform, so I don't need its user subscription and management functions. It primarily serves as an entry point for sharing and communication; after all, sharing official account content within WeChat is much safer than external links (remember how WeChat recently removed its own red envelope external links?).

Tencent Content Platform

Tencent's content platform and WeChat Official Accounts complement each other. It's more like a Toutiao account on Toutiao, with published content appearing on news apps and websites. Compared to WeChat Official Accounts, it's more open, making it suitable for independent bloggers like myself. I highly recommend it; the application process is much simpler than for Official Accounts, and there's less management required.

Bilibili

This is a treasure trove I recently discovered. Although I'm a long-time Bilibili user (4500+ days since my account was created), this is the first time I've found their creator center to be so user-friendly. The content not only gets a lot of views, but it's also indexed by search engines very quickly, and the user quality is extremely high (probably the highest I've seen in any domestic community right now, even better than Reddit). However, before posting, consider whether your content is suitable for Bilibili.

Xiaohongshu

Xiaohongshu is the strictest platform I've ever seen. Not only is content not publicly included, but it also faces various restrictions. If your content type aligns with Xiaohongshu's (sharing, reviews, product recommendations), you can create one, but other authors are advised to ignore it.

Baijiahao

For domestic users, having one is always beneficial. But frankly, not only is it overly restrictive, but the user experience is also very poor, so I strongly advise against it. There were rumors that Baijiahao would benefit Baidu's indexing and SEO, but honestly, it's 2026, SEO isn't that important anymore, and who still uses Baidu search? Baidu is now in its twilight years; just compare it to the Baidu Webmaster Tools platform, and it's more than 20 years behind Google.

Besides those mentioned above, there are other industry-specific platforms, such as 36Kr, Wall Street Insights, and Dongqiudi. I tried 36Kr's content creation platform, but it seems to be discontinued, and I can't really contact the editorial department. It seems they prefer commissioned articles and interviews. However, you can try it if you really need it; it shouldn't be too troublesome.

Additionally, my blog (Jake Blog) now accepts submissions. Although it's a small blog, it's been running for 24 years, which is very conducive to the dissemination of good content. I personally help with the SEO and AIO (AI indexing of your views) of all submitted articles. You might be interested in considering it.https://jaketao.com/contribute-intro
