Dear users,
Since many users have reported difficulty using Slack, we've compiled some usage tips here to help you get started more quickly.
What is Slack?
Slack (Searchable Log of All Conversation and Knowledge) is a cloud-based office tool now widely used by companies and school courses as a communication tool. Simply put, it integrates features such as chat groups, large-scale tool integration, file consolidation, and unified search. As an open social tool, it effectively facilitates communication and interaction between organizations. Just as its name suggests, anyone can access the information they need, including their historical records, anytime.
Why use Slack?
Many people coming to the Washington, D.C. area face a common challenge: finding a community. Newcomers need to find new groups online or through friends, while those already working need to gather information through various channels. Even those who have lived in Washington for a while find it very difficult to find their own community without actively seeking it out. Hobbies like playing soccer or photography aren't readily available. Organizations face the same problem: they have nowhere to advertise and can't find real users.
The purpose of creating Slack is based on this—to make Washington more transparent. We look forward to bringing together various interest groups, groups, and social organizations in Washington, so that everyone can share a user base and users can easily find their "home".
How do I join?
There are two ways to join Slack:
Have users already in the group invite you.

How to use it?
I highly recommend downloading the app. Slack doesn't have a global account concept; you need to create your own account in each Slack group. Accounts are not shared across multiple Slack groups. Simply put, each Slack group is an independent platform.
After clicking the invitation link, you will need to enter your email address and password to register. Once registration is complete, you will have joined the group. If you wish to join using another device, please remember our URL:hellodc.Slack.com
After joining, you'll see "direct messages" and "channels," which correspond to private chats and groups, respectively. You can click the "+" sign to chat privately with anyone, or click "add channel" to find groups you like.
Standard chat operation
- The @ tag can be used to tag anyone in any channel. If that person is not in the channel, an invitation will be sent to them to join.
- #, you can mention a channel, everyone can click to open it.
- @everyone, you can tag everyone.
