Washington Mayor's Office is looking for summer internships

I received an email from the mayor's office requesting help promoting their summer internship program. They welcome anyone interested to participate. Here is the original text:

Summer jobs for DC youth!

Are you a 14-24-year-old living in Washington, D.C., and looking for a summer job? Join the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and get paid through DC Employment Services!

Mayor Marion S. Barry's Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is a locally funded program sponsored by the Department of Employment Services (DOES) that helps Washington, D.C. teenagers aged 14-24 access a wealth of meaningful summer jobs in subsidized private companies and government agencies.

The 2020 project will begin on Monday, June 29, 2020, and end on Friday, August 7, 2020.

How to become a youth participant

MBSYEP will provide employment opportunities for young people aged 14 to 24 on a first-come, first-served basis.

If there are job openings, and young people submit their applications before the deadline and meet all the requirements, DOES will provide formal job placement notifications to eligible young people. Positions are limited, so please submit your applications as soon as possible!

You will need the following documents to be eligible. Please visit http://summerjobs.dc.gov for a list of documents to prove your eligibility:

• Documents proving the age is between 14 and 24 years old

• Valid proof of residence in DC

Social Security Number

• Permit to work legally in the United States

Applicants under the age of 18 must submit a "Parental Consent Form" signed by a qualified parent.

Interested applicants must complete the application form on the website http://summerjobs.dc.gov. Online applications will open on Friday, January 31, 2020, and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications must be received by Saturday, February 29, 2020.
