Recommended lawyer in Washington, D.C.: David Z. Lu

——————————–Updated February 2019——————————-

Sherry has left the company, so I can't control the quality anymore. I hope anyone with information can let me know so I can update this.

After resting in China for over a month, I'm boarding a plane back to the US today. The lawyer trilogy I mentioned last November is now coming to its final chapter – "lawyer recommendation." It also happens to be H1B application season.

————————-The performance will now begin——————————-

It's widely acknowledged that the legal profession is often looked down upon, with many having been scammed, especially in the immigration field. Due to low entry barriers (it seems no law license is required) and the increasing profits resulting from the growing number of international students and improved financial situations, the industry is rife with unqualified individuals. Visa and immigration processes are highly time-sensitive; missing deadlines can lead to being forced to return home. Therefore, finding a suitable lawyer is crucial. However, newly arrived international students often find themselves overwhelmed by numerous recommendations, unsure of their suitability. Many recommendations are based on acquaintances without prior experience, leaving them unsure of the lawyer's competence.

My first lawyer was recommended by a friend, and things went quite well at first, although there were some minor issues. However, things gradually deteriorated, causing me to miss almost two precious years. Those interested can read my previous two articles. After extensive research, I found my current lawyer, and working with him has been excellent, so I decided to write an article recommending him. Here's the information:

The reason I'm writing this article specifically is because he handled my H1B and green card matters exceptionally well. He provided a wealth of professional guidance and advice throughout the process. Although my situation was quite complex, he ultimately resolved it perfectly. David Lu is a very kind and approachable gentleman (yes!). He made a very good impression from the first meeting. After explaining the situation, he immediately offered solutions and suggestions. Compared to the vague answers from other lawyers, I felt much more at ease. Due to time constraints, he quickly listed out what I needed to do and the materials I needed to prepare. My subsequent lawyer was Sherry, who was also very helpful and patiently answered all my questions.

I contacted them in February 2017, and they completed all the work for the first stage of my green card application in just over six months (compared to the previous two years which hadn't been completed). They also successfully helped me with my H1B extension in the second half of the year. The reason my green card application took two years to process was due to various problems, and the lawyers wouldn't provide specific details, leaving me only to wait (later I discovered the lawyers weren't entirely clear on the situation either). With David Lu/Sherry, however, they could answer almost all my questions directly and were very clear about the pros and cons of various options. My H1B situation was quite complicated. Because my extension hadn't been approved and I had changed companies, Sherry was frequently "bothered" by my phone calls with various questions. However, they still provided a lot of advice and operational methods, and the collaboration with the new company and legal team went very smoothly.

I've only known and worked with them for a year, but the overall user experience surpassed that of several other lawyers. However, the legal profession is complex, and everyone's situation is different. When making a choice, it's essential to consider your own circumstances and do thorough research. My experience is just my personal observation. If needed, you can contact David Lu using the information above to visit their office in person before making a decision.
