How does Postman Pony's Luggage Line work?

The luggage line is suitable for international students, travelers or other Chinese in the United States who need to mail luggage.(Must have a Chinese passport to use), is a luggage mailing route jointly launched by PostPony, UPS and SF Express. In the United States, UPS collects the luggage. UPS transports the luggage and packages to the warehouse. After the warehouse completes the operation, it is handed over to SF Express for transportation to China and delivery.

Pack your luggage

• Please pack fragile items properly, and be sure to pack them tightly when packing, because long-distance transportation is easy to cause damage, and fragile items are not covered by the claim.
• It is recommended to purchase cartons of suitable size and thickness. You can go to Home Depot oruline.comBuy. The size of the carton depends on the size of your luggage. You can use old boxes. Please check whether the box is damaged before use and remove all original labels on the box. Also, please do not use canvas bags for packing!
• Make an obvious mark on the carton, take a photo, and send it to the baggage specialist WeChat (postpony888), and the baggage specialist will track the entire luggage transportation process.
• If packed in a suitcase, do not lock the suitcase and put a carton on the outside. Be sure to pack and seal it tightly with non-transparent tape. Wrap multiple layers of tape to prevent the UPS from damaging the inner parts of the luggage during transportation.
• After the luggage is packaged to the warehouse, the warehouse will perform reinforcement processing, and volume charges may be incurred.
• When registering a PostPony account, please try to use an email address that is convenient for receiving emails in both China and the United States to avoid not being able to receive emails after returning to your country.

Order online

• Fill in the details of the sender, recipient, and luggage contents online to generate a UPS waybill in the United States. The waybill starts with 1z. You can use this tracking number to track the logistics information of the luggage package in the United States. You canUPS official websiteTracking query. • The delivery address cannot be Yushu, Tibet or Qinghai.
• After downloading the waybill, attach it to each piece of luggage. If the waybill is not attached securely and becomes separated from the box, the package may be lost.
• When mailing multiple packages, please select the corresponding number from the [Number of Packages] drop-down list to create them simultaneously.For example, if you have 5 luggage packages, select 5 from the drop-down menu of [Number of Packages], and you can print out 5 waybills at once, and stick the waybills on the corresponding luggage packages respectively.
• At [Other Information],Upload the front and back information of the ID card. The ID card information has the following requirements:1) The ID document information must be consistent with the recipient’s information; 2) Each ID image must be less than 2MB, and the image information must be clearly visible; 3) The image format must be one of jpg, png, or gif.

Send luggage

• After the waybill is affixed, you can choose to send the luggage by yourself: self-delivery or making an appointment for UPS to pick up the package (please call UPS to pick up the package in time during the appointment time) to send the luggage package.

Pay freight

• After UPS transports your luggage and package to the warehouse, the warehouse will reinforce your luggage and package. After the operation is completed, the sender will be notified of the payment via text message. Please be sure to keep your phone open and pay in time!
• During the UPS transportation process, the volume of the luggage will change, and the volume and weight will also change accordingly. The actual freight will be different from your estimated freight.
• Optional payment methods: WeChat, Alipay, PayPal, online banking, etc.
• After the payment is completed, a new tracking number will be generated. This tracking number is the SF Express tracking number. You can use this tracking number to track the logistics information of the luggage package after it arrives in China. You can find it atSF official websiteTracking query.
• One month after the package arrives at the warehouse, it will be deemed abandoned if there is no special instructions or the freight has not been paid.
• The warehouse provides a free storage period of 21 days. After the period, a storage fee of per box per day will be charged.
• Packages that are returned due to personal reasons will be charged a re-operation fee (unpacking, channel transfer) of /box.

Entry declaration

• First, after returning to China,Please collect the inbound passenger baggage declaration form at the customs declaration office at the airport, fill in the relevant information and have it stamped by the customs。
• Secondly, after returning to China, please download the information from PostPony’s [Luggage Waybill in Transit], fill it in and save it, and then put:

1. Passport photo page, VISA page, front and back of ID card
2. Boarding pass (please take a photo and save it immediately after getting the ticket)
3. Passport entry stamp page (very important, do not use electronic entry)
4. Declaration form for luggage items of incoming passengers (very important and must be stamped by the customs. If there is no declaration form, customs clearance will not be possible and the shipment will be returned)
5. Download information (download from the luggage page in transit after returning home)

door-to-door delivery

• After the payment is completed, PostPony will send your luggage 2-3 days in advance of your return date. Please keep your domestic phone lines open after returning to your country to avoid delays.
• After customs clearance is completed, SF Express will deliver your luggage to you.

Things to note when using Postman Pony

1. It is prohibited to mail the following items:

• Cosmetics (old or new).
• Things that are edible (including health products, food, drinks, medicines, etc.).
• The number of Chinese and foreign books within 10 is tax-free, and more than 10 and less than 50 books are subject to tax; more than 50 books cannot be declared. It is not possible to declare more than 50 books, and the excess books need to be abandoned or returned (the return shipping fee is borne by yourself).
• Please do not carry bank cards, cash or checks in your luggage!
• In addition to the items prohibited from mailing above, if you want to mail new items, the value of the items cannot exceed RMB 1,000.
• The quantity of all mailed items cannot exceed reasonable personal use.

* If you mail the above prohibited items, your luggage and packages will be confiscated, destroyed or returned by customs and unable to enter the country. You will be responsible for the consequences!

2. UPS in the United States: weight, size, volume, circumference and other restrictions

• weight:A single luggage package cannot weigh more than 50 pounds.
• size:A single luggage package cannot exceed 108 inches on one side.
• volume:The volume of a single luggage package cannot exceed 50 pounds. The formula for calculating the volume and weight of a luggage package = (length*width*height)/230. If the luggage package weighs more than 50 pounds or is oversized, you will receive a 500USD penalty from UPS. Therefore, although UPS shipping within the United States is free, if the weight limit is exceeded, the penalty will not be worth the loss.
• perimeter:The circumference of a single luggage package must be less than or equal to 130 inches, that is: length + (width + height) * 2 <= 130.

* SF Express's international freight billing weight: rounded up, the maximum value between the actual weight and the volumetric weight will be billed. If the volumetric weight is greater than the actual weight, the volumetric weight will be billed. The volumetric weight calculation formula = length * width * height / 139, and the measurement unit is inch (inch).

3. Luggage line insurance:

• United States to United States (domestic section): If a package is lost during UPS transportation, compensation will be USD 100 for a single package.
• Insurance from the United States to China: It shall be handled in accordance with the additional insurance rules of PostPony, please refer toExplanation of additional insurance terms for PostPony。
• Fragile items are not covered by insurance claims.
• Transportation from the United States to China: If a package is damaged and you want to apply for a claim, please feedback the claim status to SF Express, and send the luggage package status and relevant information (such as photos of package damage, etc.) to PostPony's email: service@postpony.com.

4. When delivering a package:

You can deliver it by yourself, or you can make an appointment for UPS to pick it up at your door. When you deliver it by yourself, please be sure to take it to a UPS store for delivery. The receiving address displayed on the UPS waybill in the United States is the warehouse address. After the package arrives at the warehouse and the operation is completed, the real receiving address of the recipient filled in by the sender will be displayed. Don't worry! If it is close to a warehouse, after printing the UPS waybill in the United States and attaching it to the luggage package, you can take it to the warehouse for delivery. 5. When filling in the waybill:

Fill in the sender information in English and the recipient information in Chinese.Please make sure that the recipient of the luggage package matches the name of the person returning home.Because after returning to the country, you need to send your passport and other information to the SF Express mailbox.Note: The passport here must be a Chinese passport!

6. Baggage duty-free allowance:

1）Resident travelers：If resident passengers bring inbound items for personal use acquired overseas, with a total value of less than 5,000 yuan (including 5,000 yuan), the customs will release them duty-free.

* In excess of the above limit, the customs will only levy taxes on the excess imported items for personal use. For indivisible single items, the full amount will be levied.

* The tax and exemption regulations, inspection and release standards for luggage items of passengers traveling multiple times in a short period of time shall be subject to customs regulations.

2）20 types of goods not exempt from duty-free：Televisions, cameras, video recorders, video players, audio equipment, air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, cameras, copy machines, program-controlled telephone switches, microcomputers and peripherals, telephones, wireless paging systems, fax machines, electronic calculators, typewriters and word processors, furniture, lamps and tableware.
