As a trophy hunter, I was drawn to this recent news about exchanging trophies for US dollars. Since this benefit is only available on the US server, several friends have asked me about it. I finally had some time to look into it today.
First of all, the conditions for this event are very demanding:
- It must be a US account.
- Your IP address must be in North America (a VPN can solve this), otherwise you will not be able to access the PS Rewards website.
- This event simply involves exchanging trophies for points, which you can then use to make purchases on the Sony Rewards website.
Let's talk about it first.Sony RewardsI first encountered this website because I applied for a PlayStation credit card. Using it on any PS Store purchase earns you 10 times the points, which go into the PS Rewards website. For example, if you buy a game on the PS Store, it will give you 700 points in your PS Rewards account. Incidentally, this credit card only offers 3x points on purchases outside the PS Store (like eBay and Amazon), making it ideal for those who don't buy physical goods. Of course, points don't only come from games; you can earn them through movie tickets, physical movies, Sony products, etc. (The screenshot shows some of the current earning methods). By the way, this website is frequently down…
How do you use his points? When you accumulate a certain number of points, you can redeem items on his website (not the PS Store as some domestic media outlets have mentioned). Note that the items aren't just games; because it's Sony Rewards, there are many Sony products besides games, such as mobile phones, headphones, speakers, movies, etc. The website also sometimes offers discounts. The point-to-value ratio is approximately 100:1, with a new game costing around 6000 points. However, he can only buy physical games, and they can only be shipped to addresses in North America.
At this point, you've probably realized that this process is incredibly cumbersome and troublesome for players outside of the US. First, you need to use a VPN to log in to the website, then register, and finally link your US PSN account to the website. Once you have enough points, you can only purchase physical items, which are then shipped to a US address. If you still don't mind the hassle, then please continue.
This event is actually a task system within their system (see screenshot). After registering, remember to claim the task and complete it to earn points. Here's the strange part: can you claim the task again after completing it? The answer is no (source: US PS community discussion). That means you can only receive a maximum of 1350 points, equivalent to buying .50. Of course, money is money, and since their system supports points + cash purchases, you can use these 1350 points + .50 to buy physical games or movies. That's all!

Holy crap, the website has been redesigned?
It uses the same theme as mine.
@song:Using Hexo? That's great, I just ported this theme over the weekend.
@Jake Tao:Click on my nickname, and you'll find out.
@song:So, how has it been using it? Is it better than WP?
@Jake Tao:I haven't used WP before, but it's alright. It has a lot of features, but the comments section relies on a third-party app, and having to log in is a hassle.
@song:I took a look. It's relatively lightweight. Not bad.
