Recently, renowned gaming media outlet IGN summarized the performance of PC games in 2025 and announced its selection of the best PC games of the year. The editorial team first selected five finalists, and then an internal vote determined the ultimate winner.
The title of "Best PC Game of 2025" awarded by IGN is "Light and Shadow: Expedition 33".
This French role-playing game performed exceptionally well during this year's awards season, proving once again that its success is no accident.
The jury specifically praised its clever combination of turn-based combat and dynamic elements, its strong cast, its dark post-apocalyptic storyline, and its exceptional optimization, which is particularly rare for a PC launch title.
In addition to the winning entries, the shortlist for Best PC Game of the Year also includes:
- Hollow Knight: Silksong: This hardcore and meticulously crafted sequel impresses with its vast world, moving music, and depth of exploration, not just its difficulty.
- "Blue Path Prince": A unique Roguelike puzzle game with a progressively unfolding storyline that continues to surprise players even after completion.
- Hades 2: An ambitious sequel that expands on the original concept and introduces a female protagonist with a brand-new fighting style.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: A massive medieval role-playing game that can easily immerse players for hundreds of hours, making it an excellent alternative to The Elder Scrolls series.
IGN also mentioned other noteworthy titles that didn't make the top five, including Europa Universalis V, Anno 117: Peace of Rome, and large-scale shooters like Doom: Dark Ages, Battlefield 6, and Arc Raiders. Furthermore, IGN specifically noted that successful indie games and roguelike titles continue to perform exceptionally well on the PC platform.
IGN editorial team believes that thanks to the rich variety of game genres, stable releases, and the PC platform's ability to bring together almost all major games from various industries, 2025 will be one of the strongest years for PC games in recent years.
