Twenty Chinese scholars denied entry to the US at airport! Foreign Ministry issues statement.

On April 16, Beijing time, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a highly anticipated security alert through its "Consular Express" service.
Recently, about 20 Chinese scholars holding valid U.S. visas and preparing to travel to the United States to attend academic conferences were questioned by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) upon arrival at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and were ultimately denied entry.

In response to the recent spate of interrogations at Seattle-Taipei International Airport, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its embassies and consulates in the United States remind travelers to enhance their security awareness and advise against entering the US through that airport if possible. Travelers are also advised to thoroughly review US entry regulations in advance.

According to sources familiar with the matter, CBP's review scope even extends to in-depth information such as academic background, research projects, and funding sources.

However, the U.S. government maintains that strengthening entry screening is to protect its national security and prevent technology theft or undisclosed financial connections.

In addition to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' suggestion to "avoid specific airports," previous consular advisories have also provided specific reference suggestions for people traveling to the United States.

Before traveling, verify your essential documents to ensure that your passport, visa, I-20 or DS-2019 forms are valid and confirm that your I-20 is not expired.

In addition to preparing mentally before departure, thoroughly understanding the entry procedures has become essential. Those planning to travel to the United States in the near future are advised to pay close attention to official announcements from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to minimize entry risks.

If questioned by U.S. law enforcement personnel, remain calm and respond rationally.
