Human defects

The following content is based solely on my own conjecture and life experience. It is just a casual writing and not a mature viewpoint. Any discrepancies are welcome to be pointed out.

I believe humanity has a profound flaw: without any restraint or oversight, primal evil will exist. Without education, we lack moral discipline and will commit unforgivable atrocities. And when unrestrained, we will be infinitely greedy.

Without education, we wouldn't know what is good and what is bad, and we would unconsciously do bad things. This explains why, without the constraints of education, the vast majority of us would commit crimes. Moreover, the effectiveness of education is not permanent. Without the support of faith, as time goes by, we will forget the moral principles that education has given us and revert to selfishness and greed.

Civilization teaches us that morality is noble, and we pursue high moral character and abhor base behavior. However, when we lack access to civilization or our livelihood is not guaranteed, the pursuit of morality will be overshadowed by the instinct for survival, and our true nature will emerge.

There is an inherent distrust and distance between people. Each human being is an independent individual, unable to fully open their heart to others. Loneliness and isolation arise as a result, and communication can only alleviate these feelings, not solve them fundamentally.
