Today I met some people I'd heard a lot about, heard some inspiring stories, and learned about an organization I admire. Talking with like-minded people my age broadened my understanding of the world.
Growing up in a certain environment, I used to have a pragmatic view that the world was only about using and being used. Every effort needed a return; there was no such thing as unconditional help. I didn't have much contact with people around me. But after hearing the stories of my peers today, I realized how fulfilling and rewarding giving can be. Some things aren't about demanding or wanting, but about receiving them naturally. Opening your heart and treating others with generosity is the only way to welcome sunshine.

Tonight I also sat in on a meeting of the management team of Hangzhou Dianzi University's SIFE (Social Sciences and Engineering Federation). I didn't know much about this organization before, but through listening in and Zhi Qiao's introduction, I've come to like this team. Here, I've found the passion to strive for. Listening in reminded me of my student union experience in my freshman and sophomore years, except that they were pursuing their own interests and hobbies, contributing to society while achieving personal fulfillment. They can choose their own development path and organizational structure. They have an enviable team, like-minded, helping each other, recommending books and movies, and promoting mutual improvement.
Being able to be with like-minded people is a truly blissful thing. Before, I felt lonely, mistakenly believing that there was no one around to talk to, no one who cared about politics, no one to read books with; everyone seemed to be living only in computer games, parties, and other forms of entertainment. Now I realize the reason was my reclusive lifestyle and small social circle, which prevented me from finding like-minded people. After walking a desolate and barren road for so long, encountering fellow travelers fills me with immense joy.
Tonight was a dream start. I found my own circle, and now I have more confidence on my path forward. I have new insights into how to interact with others. A ray of sunshine streamed into my room, and the darkness vanished in an instant. I'm going to open the door and stride towards the future!
