Barclay launches a new magic card - Uber credit card, 4% on meals and 3% on hotels and flights

Remember that barclay supermarket card that offers 5% cash back on gas? Since canceling this card last year, Barclay no longer has any decent cards, but recently they launched a quasi-god card! Check it out for yourself:

Barclay推出了一张新神卡 - Uber信用卡,吃饭4%酒店飞机3% - Uber信用卡 - Jake blog

If you have no idea about credit cards, you can read my previous article "Credit card summary"Due to the interest rate hike cycle that the United States has entered, there are obvious signs of balance sheet shrinkage. There are fewer and fewer good credit cards. Most of the 5% credit cards have been cancelled, and most of the remaining ones are stuck at around 3%. Especially for common attributes such as dining, since Citi Forward disappeared, there are only a few 3% cards like Costco. And this Uber card directly has 4%, and 3% for hotels and air tickets is also very attractive. After all, most flight cards that give points only have 2%++ cash back, and most of them have annual fees.

In addition, this card has no foreign transaction fee, no annual fee, and the cash back can be used to purchase gift cards and cash back. It should be the most popular card in recent times!

    The people downstairs are also funny. They know how to make fun of people without telling the truth. Doesn’t anyone think that opening a bank savings account is very profitable nowadays? It is true that there are fewer and fewer good credit cards, and several of the previous great cards have been canceled one after another! A few days ago, I received a bonus of 0 for opening an account with Citi Gold Checking.

    Is there still a relationship between the Fed’s balance sheet reduction and credit card points? What kind of industry does the owner of this post work in? How can he be so ridiculous?

      @anonymousRaising interest rates and shrinking balance sheets will affect banks and liquidity. It encourages banks to increase the interest rate for debit checking and saving accounts, while reducing the interest rate for debt-related credit. In other words, the bank wants you to save more and spend less.

      @Jake TaoBanks always want you to save less and spend more. After all, the actual loan interest rate is not even one or two points higher than the deposit interest rate under any circumstances. .

      @anonymousThe logic is touching

      @anonymousIt is easy to understand that shrinking the balance sheet is squeezing the bubble, while credit cards mean that if you don’t have the money now, you will have to pay it back in the future. A loan of 10 billion and a loan of 1 billion are naturally smaller than the "bubble" of 1 billion. If deposits are understood as being used to repay credit cards, they can be understood as offsetting bubbles. If there is a deposit of 500 million and a credit of 1 billion, then 500 million will be offset. It is understandable to absorb deposits and not promote credit card consumption.

      @anonymousThis is right. Shrinking the balance sheet is squeezing a bubble and will put pressure on banks to absorb deposits. Naturally, I hope you save more and spend less, but it is not so exaggerated and has a big impact. In reality, reducing cash back allows you to reduce your impulse to spend and increase deposit preferential policies, such as increased checking account opening rewards. It's all small details.
