I found his connection was still unstable; he couldn't connect at all in the Shenzhen hotel. A friend recommended Shadowsocks, an open-source standard, which is great for setting up your own server. The Git repository is below; I haven't had time to explore it yet, but I'll write a tutorial for everyone later.

I've been getting a lot of questions about VPN recommendations, but I haven't been able to give any good ones because there are just too many. I usually set up my own server to act as a VPN, but I didn't have time to set one up this time because I was short on time during my trip back to China. So I did some research and here's my recommendation.
*Please note that this recommendation is based solely on my personal experience with the product. It does not imply that it is the best in the industry, nor is it an advertisement (I did not receive any commission).
ExpressVPN: https://www.expressvpn.com
Several reasons:
- I've been using it for half a month and it works very well.
- There are a large number of connection points (94 countries), which can be freely selected and switched at any time. Each point is very stable, which is actually an advantage even in the United States, as you can change the region and IP to do testing, etc.
- Unlimited data, no speed restrictions, and you can watch videos.
- The price isn't high, just over ten dollars a month.
