Foreword

In response to the beginning of the yearYear after year"Thoughts in this series" - Recording fragmented "product" ideas. These ideas come from my own daily needs and are described in short texts and immature thoughts. Compared to formal analysis, this series is more like a collection of essays, written as thoughts come to mind, only hoping to make some records and inspire more meaningful thinking.

The feeling of "ShowerThoughts" fits this series perfectly, so we've tentatively settled on this name.

positive

In-flight chat rooms are not limited to the "airplane" itself, but are designed for a confined space. In environments like airplanes and cruise ships where there is no internet and are filled with strangers, an intranet is set up, using devices in the seat/room as terminals, and seat and room numbers as IDs, for social interaction and passing the time.

These kinds of "entertainment" facilities are more interesting and can consume more time than simple movies and TV series. Moreover, besides simple chatting, there are some "gameplay" options. This type of program was already thoroughly explored over a decade ago; in an intranet disconnected from the internet, there are no particular security requirements, so the development cost shouldn't be very high. This "entertainment" can attract a group of people to prioritize that flight, and can even be used for communication between flight attendants and passengers—for example, to discuss what's wrong, what concerns they have, where they need help, or even to anonymously report issues (see something, say something).

However, these kinds of programs may not bring direct commercial benefits, and there may be little incentive to develop or change them.

Extending internet coverage to airplanes and eliminating such enclosed spaces is the right way forward.
